Oakland, Calif. — Sept. 22, 2008 — The Arizona Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) has named Scientific Learning Corp. (NASDAQ:SCIL) a qualified vendor for the state’s Juvenile Justice Services Division (JJSD). JJSD operates 14 juvenile detention centers across the state, serving more than 12,000 juveniles aged 17 and under.

Under Arizona law, juvenile detention facilities are required to provide education programs to school-aged students while they are detained or incarcerated in county juvenile detention facilities. All detained students attend school while awaiting adjudication, disposition or other hearings. Instruction toward a high school diploma, among other things, is offered at the facilities.
